"My husband and I were looking into changing our insurance company that we’ve been with for over 18 years. My husband spoke with Olivia first and he was quoted a rate that was $200 under the current rate we’re paying so of course we would make the change. Generally I handle these types of situations in our house so I began speaking to Mike on 7/20/24. As soon as I pulled up the policy I immediately saw that she had failed to update our address from a policy he had with them over 20 years ago, but they still assured me they could get me a better rate if I were to change over my home owners so I could get a “multi” policy discount. Long story short, we couldn’t because of the dates of my original policy or something like that so next it would be a life insurance policy to ensure we could continue to get that discount but in addition to that we would have to use the drive safe now plugs that go into your car. If I did both those things our policy would save me $3 but I didn’t even realize how minimal it would be until later that night when I had time to think and discuss things with my husband. At this point, I had been on the phone almost two hours and I just agreed to everything and set up the policy, and paid the premium to go into effect on 7/24/24. My husband and I spoke and agreed that the requirements they have combined with only having a $3 savings were not worth it so the following day I emailed Mike and told him I changed my mind and to cancel the request. Up until this point he was extremely pleasant the only exception I would say is that under no circumstance should a business professional take it upon himself to change a persons name because they cannot pronounce it, at the very least the person should request permission or ask if there is a suitable exception to the customer. Neither of those things were done he just chose to shorten it, not just through phone conversation but through email and text. I’ve worked in a professional office environment for over 26 years and I’ve never taken it upon myself to address anyone outside of the name that was provided. Name aside the issue is now that I’ve asked for the cancellation a day after I paid for and agreed to the policy, but 3 days before the effective date and he agreed to do so. I waited through the rest of the week to receive an update but nothing. The following week on the 28th I sent another email and nothing. Over the weekend I called State Farm’s customer service and they checked the system and said there was no refund pending or requested by the agent but they couldn’t do anything it had to be handled by the agent. On Tuesday, September 3rd I sent another email and a text requesting that the cancellation be processed and my refund issued. He finally responded to that email on the 3rd saying that he checked the system and I should receive my refund in 7-10 more business days. Two days ago on the 5th I received a letter saying the policy was canceled and the refund would be issued by State Farms accounting department, that letter was written and generated on the 3rd, he purposely failed to process my request until that date. I’ve never experienced a situation where the owner of the company has been so unprofessional and actually retaliated by failing to cancel a policy that wasn’t even in effect. I would never refer anyone to a company that handles any type of situation like this."
